Day 7 - Great Ride

Today we awoke to pea soup fog. We were in the C & D Canal and we couldn’t see across the canal. We waited until 8:30 to leave. The fog had lifted well enough to have good visibility under way. We managed to hit something else that was submerged. We are on a roll. If we can manage to hit things in the wide open, God knows what we can manage to hit in the ICW. We had a great trip down the Chesapeake. We saw barges, light houses and pretty scenery. We will try to post pictures tonight. We are staying at a Safe Harbor Marina in Solomons Island, Maryland. I have a booster for wi-fi that only works in Safe Harbor Marinas. The seas were calm for our ride today but I imagine it can build up pretty good if the wind is blowing. We pulled into Solomons Island around 12:30 PM. We had to wait at the gas dock for a while to be able to get fuel. We took on 158.4 gallons of fuel at a cost of $3.179/gallon. We traveled approximately 90 miles. Once we got tied up we launched the dinghy and drove up all of the fingers in the area around our marina. This is a cool little town with lots to see from shore and on land. We debated whether we should stay here another day. After looking at the forecast we decided to head to Norfolk in the morning. We will travel about 4 hours tomorrow but we will be at the start of the ICW. It was 82 degrees here today and sunny for a change. I am at a restaurant writing this so I can post it.

If I can post the video and pictures I will post them on a separate page on the website. That is a project for later. I just want to get this posted while I can.
