Let The Adventures Begin
Day one started at 4:45AM. I rolled over and looked out my bedroom window to see a wall of fog. I thought our 6:30 departure time would probably not happen. Once the sun came up the fog burned off. We pulled out of the slip at 7AM - Only 30 minutes behind schedule. The seas were flat calm. We decided to shoot for Liberty Landing in Jersey City, NJ. We traveled 154 miles in 5 1/2 hours. We used 282 gallons of fuel. Don’t do the math on that stat. It will scare you!
We got our slip and got settled. We took our scooters and drove through Liberty Park. You can ride up on the backside of Ellis Island. There is a one way bridge but it is only for employees. If you want to visit you need to do it via a tour boat. We saw the front side of Lady Liberty on the way in and checked out her backside from the park.
We had planned to eat out tonight. There are two restaurants at the marina. The Liberty House restaurant was closed for a private event. The Maritime Parc Restaurant had no availability for dining in, but they had a takeout option. $36 for cod chowder. $54 for a 12oz pork chop. Homemade Stir fry on the boat works for us!
The weather was sunny all day. 76 degrees here today. We had planned to stay here two nights because it was supposed to be windy tomorrow. After checking the weather we saw 2 foot seas and light winds tomorrow so we decided to leave tomorrow morning for Cape May, NJ. Now the forecast is calling for a windy day. We will decide what we are doing when we get up in the morning. I believe Cape May is approximately 130 miles from here. Atlantic City is about 70 miles away.
Sorry this post is later than expected. There are many technical issues. I tried posting the blog from home on my Chromebook and my ipad. They both worked great. I am using my iPhone as a hotspot. Wi-Fi at most marinas is less than stellar. I spent the last hour just trying to load webpages and they kept crashing. I am typing this on my iPhone. That is a challenge-yes I am old and my eyesight is bad. Hopefully there aren’t too many typos.
All in all we had a great trip. Weather was perfect. Let’s hope the rest of the trip goes as smoothly. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s adventures
